In Memoriam of the crew of the Challenger

Discovery Night Launch

We all know where we were, when it happened. I saw it live from the pool deck of the Orlando Twin Towers. The vapor trail and remants of the explosion hung silently against the azure sky, refusing to disperse.

These images are of the last night launch of the shuttle Discovery, shot from the bridge over the Banana River, less than 3 miles from the pad.  The closest access one can have without clearance.

They are posted here on the 25th anniversary of the Challenger disaster, in memory of Christa Mcauliffe and her fellow crew members.
